Happy New Year!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all survived the holiday season and have some great plans for New Year's Eve. We are off on our trip overseas today.

We will be away for most of January through March. We will still be accessible by phone (206-898-2507), but e-mail (Bob@RathboneImages.com) will be the best way to reach us at this time. Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail if you have any questions or would like us to send you information about our photography.

We will return to the states to photograph a wedding and a few engagement sessions in February, and would also be happy to schedule consultations during that time period. Please contact us if you are interested. We would love to hear from you!

Heidi and Tim

We had a fun time hanging out with cute couple Heidi and Tim, who will be getting married this summer, on August 25th. We took pictures of them over at Gasworks Park . Although it was a rainy, windy day, we still got some great photos:

We are really looking forward to your wedding, Tim and Heidi!

Rebecca and Jesse

Rebecca and Jesse are a really cute couple who are getting married at the Woodland Park Zoo on July 21st. We had a great time hanging out with them at the University of Washington, even though it was a rainy rainy day. Although at first I was sad because the campus is so beautiful and we wouldn't be able to take advantage of it, I felt like the rain actually inspired our creativity, as we had to think outside of the box more.

We're really looking forward to your wedding, Jesse and Rebecca!

Rama and Amy

My stepbrother, Rama, married Amy in June in Boise, Idaho. Although we weren't the official photographers, we did take a few pictures. :)

And now, for something completely different

So, usually we photograph weddings. We love weddings. But, every once in a while, it's fun to do something different. Eduardo, the owner of Mr Villa, a restaurant that we frequent way too often (we have been known to eat there 3-4 times a week because the food and service are so great), asked us to photograph his 40th birthday party. He had asked everyone to come dressed Goth (including us).

The crowd had a great time, and really seemed to enjoy the party theme.

Shana and Jacob and Family

Last year, we photographed their wedding at A Country Location, and this year, we got to do family session with Shana and Jacob and their adorable little girl. Family sessions are so much fun. Although we definitely get a few of the "let's all pose and look at the camera" pictures, our favorites ones to capture are the more natural moments. With kids especially, I love to see them playing and interacting with their parents and each other. I think that their characters and expressions are more truly represented when they are able to play and be themselves. The kids enjoy these sessions more, too!

Lacey and Chad

Lacey and Chad are planning a winter wedding on February 17th, 2007. We had a fun time taking pictures of them for their engagement session. First we went downtown, as they wanted some pictures at the Frontier Room, which is where they first met. Then, we went over to Volunteer Park, to capture some fall leaves and a sunset.

We can't wait for your wedding, Chad and Lacey!

Trip to Europe!

Ok, so I know I am WAY behind on updating the blog. But I have a lot to post before we leave for Christmas vacation. And after Christmas, we will be leaving for a winter sojourn in Europe. In January, we will be travelling to London, where my Dad will be teaching and my sister will be studying abroad. Then, in February, we are renting a condo in Nice for two months. While in Europe, we will be traveling and shooting and relaxing. I hope to post some pictures from our trip. Here are some from our last Europe trip.

Our son running with his toy monkey:

Every once in a while, he would stoop down to talk to the monkey. He was in that toddler phase where you couldn't really make out a lot of what he was saying, but I did hear him say to the monkey "no no night," which was one of his favorite things to say at bedtime. Our son has never been a big fan of bedtime, and apparently, his monkey wasn't either:

A very artistic parking garage (yes, parking garage!) in Lyon, France:

I love this picture Bob took of me with our son at Versailles:

While we are gone, we will stay in touch by phone and e-mail, so feel free to contact us. We will also be returning to the States in February to photograph Lacey and Chad's wedding and do a couple of engagement sessions. If you would like to schedule a consultation or an engagement session during the time we are gone, please let us know and we would be happy to give you some times that would work for us. Also, if you are planning on being in Europe during this time, please contact us about shooting your wedding or engagement session over there.

Happy Holidays, everyone!
